2006-2007 Catholic Novena Calendar
Novena's By Month
The Catholic Novena Calendar is an online resource featuring date-specific novena
prayers on their recommended days of the year
What is a Novena?
A novena is a devotion consisting of prayers said on nine consecutive days, usually for a
special intention. Virtually all novenas can be said at any time of the year but some are
particularly appropriate for certain times of the year. For example: A Christmas novena is
usually prayed the nine days before Christmas (December 16-24) or a novena honoring a
saint may be recommended for the nine days preceding the saint's feast day.
Why an Online Novena Calendar?
There are many excellent Catholic prayer resources online and in widely available books.
These sites and publications usually organize prayers by devotion type (Marian, Holy
Spirit, Sacred Heart of Jesus, etc.) and sometimes present the suggested dates when
appropriate.
As good as these resources are, I have not been able to find an online or print calendar
dedicated to showing the correct days for all date-specific novena prayers. The Catholic
Novena Calendar website seeks to be a One-Stop-Shop resource for date-specific
novena prayers.
